President Tomihiro Tanaka’s Message for September 2025
Introduction
On July 13th, the Special Service for the North Tokyo Area, the Grounds of the Heavenly Japan Religious Corporation Certification was held in Tokyo. President Tomihiro Tanaka delivered the message, and he explained key points in today’s providence that is repeatedly being emphasized by True Mother. He addressed the participants, saying, “I pray that many flowers of cheongseong can bloom and that we generate a wave of inspiration that can stimulate Japan and True Mother.”

True Mother shows us the world of God’s true love
Good day, everyone.
I returned from Korea on the last flight yesterday. True Mother invited me to lunch, and I had the honor of dining with several others. The dishes prepared for us were made using recipes True Mother devised herself.
Forty years ago, True Father embarked on a forty-day tuna fishing expedition with some of his close followers off the coast of Boston, America. During that time, True Mother had remained in the kitchen. The meal we had in Korea was actually conceived on that cold chilly day of fishing to warm and restore the strength of Father and those members.
It contained many ingredients like jujube and Korean ginseng, so it looked like samgyetang, but it was different. It was incredibly delicious and warmed me right up, making me think it must be good for your health.
True Mother knew I was coming and had instructed the head chef at the Cheon Jeonn Gung Museum to prepare the recipe three days prior to my arrival. Why am I sharing this? Many of you are not able to directly witness the essence of God’s true love. Yet it always manifests in tangible form. This is what I wish to convey to all of you.
Since becoming President of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification in Japan, I have had many opportunities to meet True Mother. And yet, the cuisine that is served is different each time. Also, the confectionary served with coffee are often ones I’ve never tasted before.
True Mother shares with me how the food that was served was brought or prepared by so-and-so, or that the dish was made and brought when she met with so-and-so at such-and-such a place. She had instructed the cooks and servers beforehand, “When Tomihiro Tanaka arrives, serve this,” and since she is aware of everything, she explains each item of food in detail. In this way, Mother shows me the world of God’s true love, which we cannot see with our eyes.
True Mother has lived her entire life with God as her Parent. The world of love she cultivated with the Heavenly Parent is made visible to us, not just conveyed through mere words. Once again, I express my deepest gratitude.
A fierce battle has been raging between God and Satan over Japan
For the North Tokyo area, today is a very important day, especially here in Adachi Ward. Today, I want to return to the starting point and sort out where we should place our focus, and on how we should view Heaven’s providence and our own lives.
God is our Parent, and the history of restoration continues even now to reclaim His lost children. The Heavenly Parent exists, and even after six thousand years of history, He has not given up on His children. This is our view of life, our view of the providence, and our view of history. When this fundamental premise crumbles, our faith inevitably becomes human-centered.
Had the first human ancestors Adam and Eve not fallen, they would have become the True Parents of humankind. However, because they fell and lost their position as God’s children, God also lost His position as Parent. History has been a long arduous process to restore the positions of children and Parent.
Why does (restoration) persist for so long? The reason is obvious: Satan exists. The Principle of Creation explains the struggle between God and Satan, and the workings of good and evil spirits. We must continue to view things from the perspective that Satan still dominates human history.
In 1958, Missionary Choi Bong-chun (Japanese name: Masaru Nishikawa) was sent from Korea to Japan, sowing the seeds of God’s word and love. Why did True Parents send Rev. Nishikawa to Japan? It was for God’s providence of restoration.
Rev. Nishikawa entered the country on a stowaway ship. At the time, diplomatic relations between Japan and Korea were not yet normalized, leaving him no other choice. The possibility of forced repatriation always hung over Rev. Nishikawa.
On June 2, 1964, Rev. Nishikawa was taken into custody by the police and transferred to the Immigration Bureau two days later. Then, on July 15, forty-three days after his arrest, the Unification Church (Family Federation) was certified as a religious corporation. The very next day, it formally commenced operations as a religious organization. Then, Rev. Nishikawa was released on July 17.
Thus, God’s providence in Japan advanced amidst a serious struggle over whether Japan would be taken by God or by Satan.
The seeds of love sown here in Adachi, North Tokyo, have spread throughout Japan, connecting the spiritual lives of many people to heaven. Each one of us was a seed of love that sprouted and blossomed.
However, if our roots are not connected to God’s providence, we can become drifters and live a rootless existence. We must approach all matters with the recognition that individuals, families, churches, and nations exist within God’s providence. Only with this faith-based perspective does this religious organization have meaning, and only then does this gathering have meaning. “Building good character and building good families”—this is not the only message we uphold.
We are called to see the big picture of God’s providence from a bird’s-eye view. God is advancing His providential plan of salvation to restore humanity. Yet enemies who seek to hinder His plan still exist. We must clearly understand that we bear the responsibility for the earthly providence within this spiritual battle.
By knowing God the Parent, humanity will be liberated and saved
Why do you think I’m suddenly bringing this up? Yesterday, True Mother repeatedly emphasized that the age of the second generation has arrived. Seeing so many second-generation members here in this hall, I felt compelled to convey what Mother said, even setting aside what I originally intended to speak about.
True Mother emphasized that with the arrival of the age of the second and third generation, we must realize that if communism were to take hold of Japan, the nation would vanish. Mother spoke of this matter:
“Why is communism problematic? Because it denies God. There is no other reason. To deny God is to deny one’s parents, and denying one’s parents means losing one’s position as a child.
“If we deny God, we can only become human-centered. The greatest problem of communism is that it became anthropocentric. Unless we become one with the Heavenly Parent once more, we will lose the path of regaining our original selves.”
Those who adhere to communism would never say they are “allowed to live.” They would emphasize that it is “their own lives.” Saying they are “allowed to live” would require acknowledging the existence of that which keeps them alive.
Can you consciously control your internal organs? It’s impossible to think, “My heart is tired today, so I’ll give it a rest.”
Breathing in oxygen and breathing out carbon dioxide—that happens unconsciously. You might be able to hold your breath for a minute or two, but if you had to consciously breathe in and out for twenty-four hours straight, you’d go crazy.
In many ways, we have been given this physical body, and through it, we live our lives with purpose and to nurture love. Therefore, we should first humbly acknowledge that we have been given life. And we must ask the One who gives us life, “What am I living for?”
Someone once asked Einstein, “If you could ask God one question, what would it be?” Einstein reportedly replied, “I’d like to ask HOW He created the universe.” That sounds just like Einstein. However, realizing he could only ask one question, he corrected himself and said, “I’d like to know WHY He created the universe.”
If we are to ask what the purpose of life is, we must first ask, “Why were we created?”
The Heavenly Parent sought an object where He could feel heartfelt joy and that is why He created children. Unless we reach that kind of parental heart, we cannot truly understand the value of our own lives. It might even be said that without the Parent, we the children cannot find meaning in our existence.
Though He welcomes people as His children, He is not regarded as their Parent. This same feeling is surely the deepest anguish that any parent will have. Likewise, even if your own parents stand before you, if you cannot feel they are your parents, or understand them as your parents, this is the greatest unfilialness of children.
True Mother tells the second generation to bring back all the second and third generation members. The meaning of “bring back” is “to teach them that she is their parent.” For when people come to know they have parents, they are fundamentally liberated and saved.
The attitude and way of life asked of those bearing the providence
To save this nation and its people, missionaries risked their lives to enter Japan secretly by ship, and bring Heaven’s words. Some may criticize this was an illegal act. How do you feel when confronted with this fact?
And now, the Family Federation is being criticized by society for civil torts, what opponents have been calling “spiritual sales tactics,” a notion propagated by the opposition since the 1980s. Members of the second and third generation are being burdened and accused of things they absolutely have no recollection of. How are we to respond to this?
Some of you here may recall clashes over donations, perhaps even seeing your parents argue between them. Others may have kept wondering, “Why do they insist on giving so much?” You can find voices of second-generation members online who have distanced themselves from the church, resentful that they “couldn’t get the things they wanted.” Such issues likely exist not only in the Family Federation but in other religious groups as well.
There are many senior family members who were sent overseas for missionary work. For some of the second generation who spent their childhood separated from their parents, some might feel compelled to speak up: “Surely that’s going too far. It’s strange. How can a church that teaches the importance of family do that?”
Can the second and third generation deny the way of life lived by their parents, who went out into the world, leaving behind their loved ones to answer the Heavenly Parent’s wish and carry out missionary work?
Sacrifices were made along the way. I know there are second generation who have lived carrying loneliness in their hearts—the loneliness of wanting love but their parents weren’t there to give it.
However, the achievements of our predecessors—who devoted themselves to heaven’s will to establish Japan as one of heaven’s providential nations, the Mother Nation—will continue to shine brightly a hundred or two hundred years from now. They are something to be proud of for all eternity. They may be mocked, “Look at that family. Their children are poor and lonely. What are you talking about the True Family?” But this is not permissible; their grand achievements that they have piled up before Heaven shall not be buried in that mockery.
It is because of the tradition that our predecessors established of surrendering themselves completely to Heaven’s heart, circumstances, and wishes amidst the fierce battle over Japan between God and Satan, that we are able to see the future. We must proudly proclaim this fact. That is the posture of those who stand bearing the providence.
The providence of salvation moves forward by embracing Abel’s inadequacies
To this day, the Family Federation is being attacked by earthly laws and secular values. The forces exploiting this system are communist forces, and behind them lies the work of evil spirits.
Confronting this is also our responsibility as those in the Abel realm. God works beyond our imagination through the providence.
For example, Jacob regained the birthright from his elder brother Esau. But how did he do it? He used deceit, relying on his mother Rebekah’s wisdom. The Principle of Creation explains this as “mother-son cooperation.” So, does that mean it’s acceptable to deceive or lie for the sake of God’s will? True Father has stated, “Lying is absolutely forbidden.”
Resolving this dichotomy required twenty-one years of hardship in Haran. This should never have been necessary. The restoration of the birthright should have been achieved through natural submission born of love within the family. But because that failed, restoration had to be accomplished in that manner. God had no choice but to incorporate Jacob’s hardship in Haran into the providential plan and place it upon his shoulders to advance His will.
Moses’ journey through the wilderness should also not have happened. Then why did it occur? Because Moses, burning with righteous indignation, killed an Egyptian. True Father also stated, “Moses should not have killed the Egyptian. He should have become king in Egypt and established God’s kingdom there.”
God had no choice but to advance His providence, including the wilderness course caused by Moses’ mistake. The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for forty years, and most of the first generation ultimately were not permitted to enter the Promised Land they had sought.
Thus, God has embraced the matters that seem incomprehensible from the perspective of human law and human understanding, and incorporated them into the providence of salvation, bringing order (to history).
I once heard the testimony of two senior wives from Korea.
At the end of 1970, True Father requested the 777-couple families in Korea to carry out three years of pioneering missionary work within the country. At that time, they could not take their children with them to their assigned locations.
One of the women had no parents or relatives to care for her child, so she left the child at an orphanage before heading to her mission field. However, when she returned from her missionary work, the orphanage had burned down. She had no idea where the child was. She searched relentlessly and finally found her child when he was in middle school. He didn’t recognize her at all.
However, when the child went to college and heard the Principle, he learned about the providence centered on True Parents. He understood why his father and mother had left him in front of the orphanage and was immensely grateful to them. This child received the blessing marriage.
The other woman was unable to entrust her child to anyone and gave up her pioneering missionary work. Her family lived comfortably, and when her child entered high school, he learned about the Principle and the path of True Parents. Then, the child reproached his parents, saying, “Why didn’t you leave me behind and go on the pioneering missionary work back then?” The woman testified that this was the most painful experience of her life.
We are the generation who have walked the path while believing that “God will protect the blessed children.” Yet in reality, due to our shortcomings, it is also true that some of our children have carried the anguish of “seeking love, yet having no parents there.”
Even when unforeseen events occur due to the inadequacies of those who stand on Abel’s side, the Heavenly Parent will orchestrate the providence over many years by encompassing those events. We can only walk forward without giving up, trusting in God’s will.
Japan’s path to survival depends on becoming one with True Parents
In the struggle between God and Satan, we must never forget this: God seeks to reclaim every single one of His children, and there lies the unchanging love of a parent. God will continue His providence of salvation until all of humanity is restored. That is precisely why we must throw ourselves into this work and shoulder our portion of responsibility. We must not stop walking, even as the second, third, fourth generation pass by.
Why is this so? Because as long as even one child turns their back on God, the Parent’s heart cannot be liberated, and peace will not come. Second- and third-generation members, please understand why the providence of salvation continues even today. Please understand that True Mother views matters from this providential perspective and looks intently toward the future.
Centered on Shin-chul nim and Shin-heung nim, who are the Inheritors of Heaven’s Love and Blessing, the tide of a new era will arrive. That does not mean indemnity will completely disappear. Yesterday, True Mother repeatedly spoke to me about indemnity. And she said this:
When we were married in 1960, a monk who lived nearby came to visit. He said, “I will prophesy the future of the Unification Church.” His prophecy stated, “Japan must become one with the True Parents, or it will surely sink.”
It is said that if a Nankai Trough earthquake strikes Japan now, 300,000 people could perish. It could happen at any time. To overcome this, we must ride the heavenly fortune. Where does heavenly fortune come from? From the center of Heaven’s providence. That would be the Heavenly Parent and True Parents. Japan’s path to survival depends on how it unites with True Parents.
True Mother’s thought process and the world she perceives are different from ours, who wander aimlessly on earth. We inevitably get dragged down by earthly rules. How to win a pending lawsuit—that is surely the ultimate example of what earthly rules demand.
True Mother perceives things from a different dimension than the earth. She speaks on the same scale as True Father, without pause about Heaven’s vast providence. The words that resonated most deeply in my heart were: “Know clearly that the masters of this nation are the True Parents!” From God’s providence, that is indeed the case. The True Parents of humankind have already been established.
True Mother also said the following:
We believe in eternal life. It is a world of love. You cannot enter the world of love by yourself. You absolutely need a partner. To become husband and wife, you must receive the blessing.
Of course, it is possible to receive it even after going to the spirit world. However, right now, the True Parents are on earth. Guide all the people of Japan, all of humanity, to receive the blessing. This is Japan’s path to survival.
Japan is the only nation chosen as the Mother Nation. The Father Nation, Korea, and Japan must become one. And our perspective must be aligned with True Mother’s, who seeks to open the path of salvation on a global scale.
Shin-chul nim and Shin-heung nim will tour the world as Inheritors of Heaven’s Love and Blessing to establish true love. On July 20th, the “World Tour Appreciation and Report Assembly with the Inheritors of Heaven’s Love and Blessing for the Inheritance of the Realm of Victory of the True Parents of Heaven, Earth and Humankind” will be held in Korea. True Mother has clearly set future plans. In 2027, a major turning point in the providence will be announced.
The main players at that time will be the second and third generation. Together with the Heavenly Parent, they will embark on the journey to establish Cheon Il Guk on a new level. They are still maturing, and indemnity remains. Nevertheless, Abel and Cain will begin to move dynamically into this new dimension. To prepare that environment, True Mother will devote all her energy together with us for the next year and a half until 2027.
The right to use cheongseong we have offered belongs to God
Let us keep such heavenly timeframes in mind and devote our cheongseong toward the future. Even if we offer our cheongseong, it may not necessarily bear fruit for us. The accumulated cheongseong may not necessarily be used for our families or our church. We do not possess the right to use that. Cheongseong is simply deposited into God’s ledger.
Because Abraham failed to cut the dove as the symbolic sacrifice, he ended up having to sacrifice Isaac. He was to offer up the son born to him when he was one hundred years old. How serious must have that been? He should have been removed from his position of bearing the providence due to his failure in not making the symbolic sacrifice. Yet, why was he able to have another opportunity in sacrificing Isaac?
The Principle of Creation states three reasons for this. The third reason cited is the cheongseong Abel offered to Heaven two thousand years before Abraham, and the cheongseong offered by Noah four hundred years before Abraham, who spent one hundred and twenty years building the ark and presenting it before Heaven. The sacrifice of Isaac was permitted by harnessing and exercising the accumulated cheongseong built up two thousand years prior and four hundred years prior. It is clear that the right to use cheongseong belongs to God.
Let us simply offer cheongseong so that it can be accumulated in God’s ledger so that He may use it freely whenever desired. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if He used it for the right person at the right time? Let us think of it as a bonus if it returns to us, our families, or our churches. Cheongseong is offered to Heaven; there is no principle that says we should expect a return based on what we give.
Adachi is where Japan first received great blessings and where the Family Federation began as a religious entity. True Parents themselves have visited this place. Moreover, I heard the place where they started was called “Hanabatake” (Flower Field). May we bloom many flowers of cheongseong, stimulate Japan from this place, and generate a wave that can inspire True Mother.
To the second and third generation who will carry the future, let us embrace the pressure and trials as opportunities to grow and mature.
